School Facilities

As well as high quality teaching and learning in the classroom, children need to gain experience and find enjoyment in other ways.  We want our pupils to leave primary school equipped with skills for life. Our pupils have the opportunity to participate in different activities which include: a range of sports, music, creative arts, cooking, French, gardening and woodwork.

Sport - for many activities we use our own facilities. We have a large field as well as a Multi Use Games Area where children can play team and individual sports. Our skilled sports teachers aim for all children to find a sport they enjoy; finding physical activity fun is rewarding and it is crucial that children lead healthy lifestyles. Pupils can also become involved in competitive sports if they wish. Inter school competitions include athletics, cross country, football, hockey, cricket, netball and tennis. Every child will attend swimming lessons, for this we use Tewkesbury Secondary School. The children are put into small groups and are taught by specialist swimming teachers.

Music - children can learn to play a variety of instruments in school by qualified music teachers. These include: recorder, clarinet, flute, oboe, violin, piano, guitar and ukulele and children have the opportunity to perform in school merit assemblies.

Drama - Throughout the school all children participate in school productions. These are magnificent events Infants performing a Nativity at Christmas and the Juniors presenting an end of year musical ranging from Shakespeare to Disney productions. These performances are always well received by the parents and the local community.

Links with Secondary Schools - for specialist teaching such as woodwork and high level ICT, we use the facilities of Tewkesbury Secondary School which is just a short mini bus journey away.

The local community - supporting the school by attending school activites and volunteering to share their own skills and time, for example listening to readers, gardening and local wildlife experiences.

Snack/Lunchtimes - During snack time Infant children are provided with a healthy snack or they can bring their own.  Junior children are required to provide their own healthy snack, for example, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, vegetables or crackers. Children eat their lunches in the village hall/classroom, either a packed lunch or a paid hot dinner supplied through Caterlink. We are a healthy school and water is constantly available to children in class.
