Diwali dance and diya painting

In November, over two days, our school hosted vibrant Diwali-themed workshops where every student had the chance to celebrate the Festival of Lights through creative and engaging activities. The Diya Painting workshop allowed children to design and paint their own Diya oil lamps, learning about Diwali’s symbolism of light triumphing over darkness while exploring Indian culture. In the Indian Dance workshop, students enjoyed a dynamic experience, learning a range of dance styles from graceful Kathak, with its intricate hand gestures and storytelling, to the energetic Bollywood fusion that blends traditional Indian moves with modern Western choreography. These interactive workshops fostered creativity, teamwork, and cultural understanding, making Diwali a memorable and educational celebration for the entire school.

Coming up this term…

Year 4 and Year 5 have got an exciting joint trip to Tewkesbury, they will be visiting the John Moore museum for half the day and Tewkesbury Abbey for the other half…

They will be looking for signs of salvation around the Abbey to link to their current topics in RE and also interviewing staff at the Abbey - this will also link to other subjects as all information they gather on this trip will be used to create leaflets. There may be some creative art opportunities arise throughout the day as well… we can’t wait!
